For over two decades, Ichiban Japanese Catering has proudly remained a family-owned business, bringing the bold and vibrant flavors of Asian cuisine to life. What began in 1997 as a humble sushi restaurant & catering service, Ichiban has grown into a full-scale operation specializing in a diverse range of Asian culinary traditions.

We have the honor of catering at some of the most prestigious venues, including The Plaza, Cipriani, The Mandarin Oriental, and many more. From intimate family style dinners to grand celebrations, our focus is on creating dishes that stay true to authentic Asian flavors while presenting them with a modern aesthetic.

Our passionate team continues to innovate—blending tradition with creativity, sourcing the freshest ingredients, and partnering with local purveyors to craft unforgettable experiences. COMPANY HISTORY

James Chuang immigrated here in 1984 with the hope of achieving the American Dream. In 1997, he and his brothers opened our first location in Princeton, New Jersey. Since then, we've evolved from a small, family-run restaurant to a luxury sushi catering company with an impressive clientele of New York City’s most-coveted venues including Cipriani, The Plaza, Mandarin Oriental, and many more. In 2019, we were awarded as one of Harriette Rose Katz's “Chosen Few”.  

 COMPANY VALUES & MISSION

The core of Ichiban Japanese Catering is built on creating food that brings people together. In light of COVID-19 and we wanted to continue fostering a spirit of community—while respecting social distancing guidelines.  The Ichiban team has donated over 50000 masks, 500 gowns, 500 safety goggles, and 250 bento boxes to hospitals in the New York/New Jersey area. While events are still little ways off, our company has taken a new direction and added takeout and started to develop more innovative recipes.

 Our mission is to serve delicious, high quality and creative Asian cuisine—as we know that every bite matters. We aspire to make food an experience not only for your mouth but for the people around you.
